CHARLIE BARBER

Mr. Charlie Barber of the Moose Jaw District, passed away suddenly on Thursday July 31, 2008 at the age of 77 years.  He was born on August 9, 1930 at Crestwynd, SK. Charlie was a well-known school bus driver to Mortlach School who enjoyed the farm, especially the cattle and horses.  He was also Manager of the Old Wives Community Pasture for many years. He is predeceased by his parents, wife Marilyn in 1990, and two brothers, Syd and Walter. Charlie is survived by his wife, Mavis; daughter Kim (John) – Thunder Bay, ON, and grandchildren Charmain, Margaret and Kristain, great-grandchild Carson and a future grandchild; and son Allan – Mortlach; step-children Boyd Jacobs, Steve Jacobs, Norman Jacobs and Beverly Desnomie; brother, Stan - Crestwynd; and sister Edith Hale – Mossbank; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday evening 7 – 9 pm at the Funeral Home. Following Cremation, A Memorial Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday August 5, 2008 at 1:30 pm , with interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Reverend John Duerksen will officiate.  Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St.W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, would be appreciated.  In living memory of Charlie, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
