THELMA BEXSON
of Moose
Jaw, passed away on May 27, 2008. Thelma was born on September 30,
1910 in Minot, North Dakota
to John and Kari Thorsen. She
came to Canada in 1920 with her parents and three sisters: Dagny, Thilda, and
Violet. Thelma’s
father was a farmer and carpenter and her mother a housewife. Thelma had two marriages; the first on September 5, 1927 in
Islay, Alberta to John Kinshella who was a farmer. Together Thelma and John had three children: Edna, Leo, and
Wayne. There are
presently eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and
five great-great-grandchildren. Thelma’s second marriage was to Joe Bexson who was a
soldier. She has had
many leisure interests in her life; pets, baking, crafts,
gardening/outdoors, Bingo, needlework, sewing, along with
listening and dancing to music. Thelma retired in
Marwayne, Alberta
and came to Moose Jaw in 2002. She had many
special memories of farming, visiting relatives in Montana, anniversaries, weddings and of the many grand, great-grand, and
great-great-grandchildren. Prior
to coming to Pioneer Lodge on August 31, 2005, Thelma resided in Moose
Jaw with her son, Wayne and wife Judy.
She kept busy by attending the social club at the Maguire
Centre in Providence Place. Predeceased by her
parents, John and Kari Thorsen, John Kinshella and Joe Bexson;
three sisters: Dagny, Thilda, and Violet, Thelma is survived by
three children: Edna (Arnold) Barstad – Heinsburg, Alberta, Leo
(Mary) Kinshella – Lloydminster, Alberta, and Wayne (Judy)
Kinshella – Moose Jaw. The
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 11:00
a.m. in the Marwayne Community Hall,
Marwayne, Alberta. Interment will
follow at the Marwayne Cemetery. In lieu of flowers,
donations may be directed to the Alzheimer Association, #301 – 2550 –
12th Ave., Regina, S4P 3X1. In living memory of Thelma, a tree will be planted in
Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
