BOB CONNOLLY

The family of Bob Connolly is sad to announce his sudden passing on June 14, 2008 at the age of 64, while visiting his daughters in South Surrey, BC. Bob was born in Milestone, Sask. on Aug.12, 1943 and was raised on the farm at Stoney Beach, Sask.  Predeceased by his mother and father, Bertha and Stan Connolly, Bob is survived by his daughters, Shawna (Mike) Connolly, Tanya (Dave) Connolly and grandson, Matthew; sister Shirley (Len) Knelsen of Hodgeville, SK, nephews Russell and Darwin;  and his previous wife and best friend Mickey (Lorne) Heron. Bob attended Peacock High School and went on to join the Navy, serving on the aircraft carrier HMCS Bonaventure. He returned to farm with his dad and worked at Kalium Chemicals. He then worked for C&S Construction and became a journeyman carpenter. For many years he was self employed, doing concrete work. Later he joined the staff of Moose Jaw Housing where he wished he was every day since he became ill. He always spoke of the importance of getting along with fellow workers and enjoyed the crew down at the shop, speaking of them often. Bob was a sports fan and delighted in watching his grandson Matt’s baseball games. He was an avid supporter of the Roughriders and the Detroit Red Wings. One of his final pleasures was seeing his teams go all the way in 2007-08. Bob was involved in the Royal Canadian Navy League/Sea Cadet Corps No. 99 Assiniboine for many years, as well as a member of the Moose Jaw Legion No. 59. Bob was well known for his kind, soft nature and his wonderful witty sense of humor. He always had an ear for anyone who needed to talk. He will remain in our hearts forever. A Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Cemetery on Monday June 30, 2008 at 2:00 pm, with a reception to follow at the Moose Jaw Legion. We invite you to join us in celebrating Bob’s life. In living memory of Bob, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Though I haven't seen Bob in years, I will never forget his kindness towards myself and my family. I remember vividly him helping me change a window that got broken at a party that I was NOT supposed to have....he never judged me, charged me, or told my parents what had happened!!!  I will remember him with warm thoughts of kindness...and my prayers are with you all tonight. Miss you Tanya...chin up Darlin!!!
