GEORGE DOUGLAS 

Our much loved father, brother, uncle and friend, GEORGE REDFORD DOUGLAS passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2008 at Extendicare at the age of 92, with family by his side.  George was the third of eight children of John and Esther Douglas.  He married Lorna May Stephenson who died in 1994.  George was predeceased by his brothers: Walter, Ernie, Art and James; sisters: Mary Brown and Lilian Nielsen, George is survived by his daughters: Karel (Don) Boisclair – Saskatoon and Marilyn (Ken) Danchuk – Kelowna, sister, Marion Riley  - Moose Jaw; sisters-in-law: Ruby Douglas  - Moose Jaw and Ruth Thachuk - Leduc, Alberta.  George also has many nieces and nephews who were fondly remembered by him. George served in the Army during the Second World War as a Corporal with the Wesminster Regiment. Upon his return to Canada, George spent much of his working career with Palm Dairies.  He retired at the age of 62 in good health and it was at that time the family introduced him to the game of golf.  He spent many afternoons with his buddies at the Lynbrook Golf Club.  Each year he took a vacation to Fairmont Hot Springs for a week of fellowship and golfing – these times were some of his happiest memories. To those special people at Extendicare who were such a big part of Dad’s final years, we send our heartfelt thanks to you - you will never be forgotten.  -Karel, Don, Marilyn and Ken. Funeral Services will be held at the W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca Street East, Moose Jaw on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 1:30 p.m.  Reverend Betty Bradley will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Timothy Eaton Seniors Fund. In living memory of George, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
