EVELYN CAMPBELL

Evelyn Laura Campbell of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan passed away on April 20, 2010 at the age of 86 years. Evelyn, known in her early years as "Tootsie" to close friends and family, was born in Moose Jaw on February 6, 1924 to Mabel and John Barnholden. As a young woman, she worked for eight years as an office clerk at Swift Canadian. She met and married the love of her life, Fred, in 1951, and they raised their family in Moose Jaw, taking part in the Christian fellowship at Zion Church. She had a great love of music, and shared that love with her family. She encouraged both of her daughters in the arts, and this encouragement led to her daughter Shelley's continued use of her talent in arts and crafts, and her daughter Brenda's pursuit of a lifelong career as a professional flutist and pianist. Evelyn was a proud and loving mother and grandmother, and she delighted in her family. She will be remembered for her love of spirited conversation, her quick wit, her faith in God, and her generous and giving nature. She was predeceased by her sisters Laura Barnholden, Ellen Carline, Ruby Robinson, Bernice Meyer, and Florence Greenwood, her brother Gordon Barnholden, and her grandson Brian Moats. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Fred, her brother Earl (Marjorie) Barnholden, her daughters Brenda (Murray) Moats and Shelley (Brian) Phillips, and her stepson Ralph (Paulette) Miller and his family, as well as grandchildren Kenneth Moats, Kristen Moats, Jaimie (Daniel) Atkins, Crystal (Jordan) Gray, Jonathan Phillips, and great-granddaughter Katherine Atkins. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 2:30pm at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel, with Pastor Allan Buchanan officiating. The family wishes to extend warm thanks to Dr. Kariem, Dr. Tysdal, and Dr. Miller, as well as the management of the Mulberry Estates, and special staff member Robin Brin, for their kind and considerate care for Evelyn. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, 279 Third Avenue North Saskatoon, S7K 2H8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Evelyn, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Guest Book

Linda Valley - Moose Jaw, SK: Shelly so very sorry to hear of your moms passing.  She was a nice lady and a loving one too.

Larry & Sharon Hunt - Moose Jaw, SK: Our Deepest Sympathy to Fred, Shelley, Brenda and their families.  I grew up and have known the Campbells since I was about 2 years old and always had the greatest respect for Ev.  Mom and Dad Hunt were best friends along with my brother Terry and myself.  She was such a loving caring person to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.  She always kept me in line being our next door neighbours.  She will be missed by all of us.  God Bless!

Marilyn and Jeff Wall - Moose Jaw, SK: We are so sorry about Aunt Ev. Try to imagine her having tea with family and catching up with news with those relatives that have gone before. She had a wonderful memory of everyone's' birthdays, anniversaries, where people used to live, all sorts of useful family history things. She always wanted things spelled correctly in the newspaper and in letters so perhaps she has been appointed to the Almighty's spell check staff. I suspect she would enjoy that along with listening to the heavenly choir. It has been a tough time for Brenda and Shelley and we send you hugs and good memories at this time.

Diane Neufeld - Moose Jaw, SK: My heartfelt sympathy Shelley to you and all of your family.

Leiann Armitage - Moose Jaw, SK: Evelyn will be miss by all the staff at Mulberry Estates.

Wanda (Silvester) Smith - Moose Jaw, SK: On behalf of the Silvester family, we extend our deepest love to you, Bryan, Shelley and Jonathan.  May you experience the Holy Spirit's tender comfort and touch on your lives during this time.
