SHIRLEY ELLS

SHIRLEY ELLS passed away peacefully June 6, 2010. She was born December 26, 1915 in Ogema, Saskatchewan to Annie and Nels  Eden. In her youth Shirley loved riding horses on the family farm. Shirley and Burnell were married on November 25, 1941 and began farming in the Ogema area.  In 1948, they moved to Rouleau where they farmed until they retired and moved into town.  Shirley loved living on the farm, always had a pet dog and loved her large garden.  She was active in the Rouleau United Church, the Rebekahs and the community of Rouleau itself. Shirley loved to dance, she and Burnell travelled many miles with square dancing, making many friends along the way.  They spent many winters in Arizona where they continued to dance, as well as they enjoyed R.V.’ing coast to coast, to most of the Americans States and Mexico, and holidaying in the Bahamas.  Shirley not only loved her children, she loved babies and over a span of ten years, took care of thirty-seven foster babies.  Predeceased by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Jimmy and Margaret Eden, Harvey and Hilda Eden, Gordie and Jean Eden, Pete Eden, Eddie and Elaine Eden. Shirley will be sadly missed by her husband Burnell Ells of sixty-nine years; daughter,  Della (Terry) Anderson – Pense and their children: Crystal (Stewart) Bosch – Fox Valley, Neal Anderson – Reno, NV; son, Dale (Paulette) Ells – Rouleau, and their children Craig (Camille) Ells, Travis and Chelsea – Saskatoon, Cory (Nicole) Ells, Cameron and Sydney – Moose Jaw, Lorelei (Darren) Perry and Lauren – Regina; sisters-in-law, Eileen Eden – Summerland, B.C. and Eileen Tripple – Campbell River, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Providence Place for the wonderful care that Mom received while there.  A Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 7p.m. at the Rouleau United Church with Pastor Jo Mader and Reverend Neal Anderson officiating.  Interment will take place at Rouleau Cemetery.  For those wishing, memorial donations may be made to Providence Place Healing Garden, 100 2nd Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK. or Rouleau United Church c/o Bonnie Downing, Rouleau, Saskatchewan. In living memory of Shirley, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
